Skelmersdale United moved twelve points clear of second-placed Trafford in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table after hammering neighbours Cammell Laird 6-1 at the West Lancashire College Stadium on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was virtually game over by half-time at 4-1 with goals from Matt Hughes in the fourth and 18th minutes and then Josh Hine in the 24th and 45th minutes, Jamie Henders managing to reduce the home side's deficit from the penalty spot on 38 minutes.

Late goals from Anthony Hickey and Michael Pheonix in the final nine minutes completed the rout.

Mossley's indifferent recent form saw them lose at Clitheroe on Tuesday night and also lose third place after leading the table for the first six months of the season.

A draw had looked likely at Shawbridge until Chris Smalley popped up with an 89th minute winner for the home side.

Ramsbottom United moved above Mossley on goal difference after a 3-1 home win over Burscough.

Jon Robinson gave Rammy a ninth minute lead that Niall Cummins cancelled out two minutes later. But Phil Dean restored the hosts' advantage from the penalty spot on 22 minutes and ten minutes later Robinson notched his second of the game with what proved to be the final goal on the night.

Salford City's new permanent boss Andy Heald saw his charges held at Moor Lane by Harrogate Railway Athletic, whose Liam Hardy cancelled out Jamie Rother's 21st minute opener for City three minutes before the break.

And in the other game played on Tuesday, Wakefield staged a dramatic comeback to take a share of the spoils against Radcliffe Borough at The Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

It looked like it would be another bad day at the office for the young Wakefield side after they missed yet another penalty at home, this time Chris Hitchings was the culprit.

Things got worse for the Bears when Matt Chadwick on 11 minutes, and then Martin Parker on 29, netted for Radcliffe. But Hitchings made up for his first half penalty miss with a scrambled effort on 48 minutes.

The Bears attacked at will but were kept out by a resolute Radcliffe defence until another spot-kick was awarded on 68 minutes for handball - Fernando Moke stepping up to successfully net for the hosts.
