A second successive defeat for Lancaster City on Tuesday night severely hit their play-off hopes in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Dolly Blues looked to be sailing towards a top five finish earlier last month but a disappointing 3-1 defeat in Flixton by mid-table Northwich Victoria leaves Darren Peacock`s side level on points with fifth-placed Bamber Bridge, who beat them last Saturday, having now played a game more.

It was goalless at the break, but Gary Burnett put the Vics in front just four minutes into the second half. Lee Dodgson managed an equaliser in the 59th minute, but Jordan Hadfield restored the hosts` advantage less than three minutes later, with Callum Henry making sure with a third 11 minutes from the end.

Ramsbottom United and fellow play-off contenders Farsley AFC shared a 1-1 Riverside draw that sees the home side remain fourth, three points ahead of the seventh-placed Yorkshire outfit, who have a game in hand.

Rob O`Brien gave the visitors the boost of a 10th minute opener. And it took Rammie until 16 minutes from the end to level, courtesy of Grant Spencer.
