Evo-Stik NPL First Division North

Bamber Bridge consolidated fifth place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North table after a comprehensive 5-0 win at Valerie Park against third-bottom Prescot Cables, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Brig hit Cables with two goals in two minutes midway through the first half from Greg Johnstone and Ali Waddecar and then Johnstone added a third on the half-hour mark from the penalty spot.

Five minutes before half-time and the visitors went four-up with a second for Waddecar, and then took their foot off the gas a little in the second period, managing to make it a nap hand with Johnstone completing his hat-trick with a second spot-kick 14 minutes from time.

Radcliffe Borough moved three points clear of Prescot after a 1-0 Stainton Park victory over Padiham, courtesy of an eighth minute Elliot Rokka effort.

In the only other game, Northwich Victoria maintained their recent improved form with a 4-1 win at Seel Park against Mossley AFC.

Brian Summerskill bagged a brace in the 14th and 30th minutes – the second from the spot – and Jordan Hadfield added a third on 33 minutes.

Dougie Carroll reduced the arrears from twelve yards in the 71st minute, only for Gary Burnett to restore Vics` three-goal lead four minutes later, an advantage James Blair reduced by one two minutes from time.
