Evo-Stik NPL First Division South

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South title race remains in the balance after the top two, Coalville Town and King's Lynn Town, drew at Owen Street on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was a game of few chances in front of the Ravens' biggest crowd of the season – 662 – but neither side could find a winner and it fizzled out into a goalless draw. The draw sees Coalville remain a point above Lynn with four games left, meaning the championship race looks set to go right to the wire, a tribute to King's Lynn's efforts as the Linnets were seventeen points adrift at one stage.

Stamford AFC all-but booked their play-off place with an 8-0 hammering of bottom-markers Hucknall Town at Kettering Road. It turned into the Ricky Miller show, with the striker notching five goals himself, including a first half hat-trick. Tom Byrne had given the Daniels an eight minute lead and Richard Jones and Ben Saunders were the other home marksmen.

Chasetown's top five hopes took a knock when they were held to a 0-0 draw at The Scholars by Leek Town.

Elsewhere, it's a case of what might have been for Northwich Victoria, who look like just missing out on the play-offs, despite another win, this time 2-0 at Mickleover Sports. Daniel Wisdom after 25 minutes and Josh Amis 17 minutes from the end scored the winning goals.

Romulus' recent improved form continued as they leap-frogged hosts Newcastle Town in the table after a 2-0 success at the Lyme Valley Stadium, courtesy of Tom Turton after 26 minutes and Marcus Brown on 71 minutes.

And Sheffield FC also won 2-0 at home against Carlton Town, Jonathan Muldoon just before half-time and Joel Purkiss on the hour-mark sealing the win.
