Tuesday's First Division South review

By David Watters

Basford United missed the opportunity to put pressure on the top five in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League First Division South table after losing 4-2 at Chasetown on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Jamie Sheldon gave the Scholars a 16th minute lead that Jack Langston doubled 11 minutes later. Kieran Wells reduced the deficit two minutes later, only for Joe Thomas to restore the hosts` lead two minutes after the break and then increase it further seven minutes later.

Fabian Smith`s penalty reply 14 minutes from time proved to be just a consolation for the Nottingham side.

Romulus suffered back-to-back defeats after going down 1-0 at Bracken Moor to Stocksbridge Park Steels, whose Adam Hinchcliffe popped up with the only goal 19 minutes from time.

Lincoln United proved to be Stamford AFC`s bogey side again as they won 3-1 at the Zeeco Stadium.

Jack McGovern gave United the lead in the derby four minutes before half-time, and four minutes after the break, Andy Toyne doubled the visitors` lead.

Conner Robinson made it virtually game over with United`s third just shy of the hour-mark, although Grant Ryan did manage a 72nd minute consolation for the Daniels.
