Tuesday's First North action review

By David Watters

Scarborough Athletic missed the opportunity to go to the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North table on Tuesday night after losing 4-2 at Ingfield to an improving Ossett Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Danny Frost gave Town the boost of an early second minute lead that Carl Stewart levelled within five minutes. Alex Peterson eventually restored the home side`s lead after 63 minutes and then added a third less than three minutes later.

Tyrone Gay made it game over when he scored Town`s fourth, although Ed Birch scored a second for Boro a couple of minutes later.

Farsley Celtic moved to within a couple of points of Scarborough into third place after winning 3-1 at Throstle Nest against Mossley AFC.

And they had to come back from being a goal down when Matty Burke put the Lilywhites ahead right on half-time. Ada Clayton equalised within three minutes of the second half kicking off and then Paul Walker put the hosts ahead on the hour-mark, with Jacob Hazel adding a third in the final minute.

Lancaster City are now fourth after winning 2-1 at Clitheroe, who were in front of the Dolly Blues in sixth ahead of kick-off.

Adam Sumner put the visitors in front right on the half-time whistle. However, Bradley Knox looked like he`d earned the Blues a point when he equalised with seven minutes to go. But Gavin Clark popped up with the Dolly Blues` winner with less than two minutes remaining.

Kendal Town are now seventh as they beat a Bamber Bridge side who started the evening in fourth place, and are now sixth.

The Mintcakes won 2-0 at Parkside with goals from Oliver Wood after 15 minutes and Matt Dudley 10 minutes into the second period.

Tadcaster Albion could have moved into the top five had they won at Ramsbottom United`s Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.

But in the end, Taddy will be happy with a point after a six-goal thriller in which the visitors scored twice in the final five minutes. Ryan Salmon gave Rammy a great start with a goal inside two minutes.

Conor Sellars equalised 14 minutes later, only for Grant Spencer in the 20th minute and Salmon again in the 39th minute to put the hosts 3-1 up. That looked to be that until Josh Barrett pulled one back to make it 2-3 in the 85th minute and then Adam Baker equalised in stoppage time.

Burscough are still without a win in fourteen games after losing 2-1 at home to Colne FC, whose Jason Hart gave them a good start with a goal inside the opening six minutes.

Mason Nevitt levelled after 32 minutes but Matt Beadle ensured it would be the visitors who left Victoria Park with the points with a 49th minute second.

Trafford moved into eleventh spot after a 5-1 home win against fourth-bottom Prescot Cables.

After Ali Brown had given Trafford an early fourth minute lead, Aaron Burns went on to complete a hat-trick with goals in the 10th, 15th and 62nd minutes.

Kingsley Williams sandwiched Trafford`s other goal four minutes before half-time, with a Nathan Quirk penalty 10 minutes from time being all the visitors could muster in response.

Radcliffe Borough enjoyed a 4-0 Stainton Park derby win over Hyde United with goals from Aboubacar Sonogo after 12 minutes, a Raul Corriera brace in the 22nd and 56th minutes and then Conor Ready just past the hour-mark.
