Tuesday's North Division action review

By David Watters

With leaders South Shields versus Ossett Town postponed along with Ramsbottom United`s home game with Kendal Town, only three games took place in the EVO-STIK League North on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Fifth-placed Prescot Cables moved to within a point of fourth-placed Bamber Bridge after beating bottom-markers Goole AFC 2-1 at Valerie Park.

Cables were made to scrap for their win after Carl Stewart had given the Vikings an 11th minute lead. Josh Klein-Davies equalised 10 minutes later and the same player won it for Cables just past the hour-mark.

Tadcaster Albion moves into the play-off places after beating fellow contenders Colwyn Bay 2-1 at Ings Lane.

The visitors edged the first half and came closest to breaking the deadlock when Astley Mulholland hit the crossbar. But Aiden Savory opened the scoring to give Taddy the lead 30 seconds after the restart before rifling home a second in the 87th minute.

The Seagulls did pull one back deep into stoppage time, courtesy of Gareth Grant, but it wasn’t enough to stop Tadcaster extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Colne moved level on points with Bay in ninth, four points behind Tadcaster, after edging a seven-goal thriller at Stainton Park against Radcliffe FC.

The visitors race into a 2-0 lead through Harry Pratt after just seven minutes and then Alex Curran on 28 minutes. James Hooper reduced the deficit three minutes after the break, only for Ollie Crankshaw to make it 3-1 in the 76th minute.

However, the home side responded to level through Callum Nicholas on 85 minutes and Louis Mayers three minutes later. But Crankshaw popped up with an 89th minute winner for the visitors.
