Tuesday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

Stafford Rangers entertained AFC Fylde in the only game in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division on Tuesday night both looking for boosters ahead of the busy Christmas and New Year period, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Both sides were looking to put pressure on the top five but in the end it was Rangers who came through at Marston Road, winning 4-2 with Danny Quinn bagging a hat-trick to enjoy an early Christmas present.

Quinn ran the show from start to finish for the home side, completing his hat-trick to go alongside Karl Ashton's goal a minute after half-time. The strikes cancelled out goals from Michael Barnes and James Dean for the Coasters on nine and 51 minutes.

It took Quinn just three minutes to open his account but Barnes levelled six minutes later. But two goals in three minutes just after the break, first for Ashton and then Quinn adding his second, virtually secured victory.

Dean headed Fylde back to within one goal of the hosts on 51 minutes before Quinn completed his personal triple with a 62nd minute header to take Rangers into ninth place, just four points behind fifth-place Ashton United. The result leaves the Coasters twelfth, four points adrift of Stafford, but with no less than five games in hand.
