Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

Tuesday night saw Chorley move to into second place and within a point of Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division leaders Skelmersdale United after beating sixth-placed Matlock Town at Victory Park writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Jake Cottrell gave the Magpies a great start with a goal inside six minutes but the excellent crowd of just under 600 had to wait until seven minutes into the second period for the next goal to arrive, James Dean putting the hosts` two-up.

Andy Teague added a third to make sure of victory after 63 minutes before Bradley Grayson netting an 87th minute consolation for the Gladiators.

AFC Fylde missed the opportunity to increase the pressure at the top after going down to a second home defeat of the season to date against lowly Nantwich Town.

Danny Lloyd-McGoldrick gave the Coasters a good start by putting his side in front after less than 10 minutes. But Aaron Burns converted a penalty with 20 minutes to go to pull the Dabbers back on level terms and then Ben Deegan won it six minutes later for Danny Johnson`s side.

Marine are up to seventh after a 5-2 hammering of second-bottom Stafford Rangers at the Arriva Stadium.

The game was almost all over as a contest by the 15th minute as by then the Mariners were 3-0 ahead, thanks to goals from Andy Fowler from the spot, Michael Monaghan and Fowler again, this time from open play.

It got worse for Andy Mutch's side as Fowler completed his hat-trick in the 31st minute but they did manage to reduce the arrears right on half-time through on-loan Kaiyne Woolery. An understandably less frenetic second period saw Louis Corrigan make it a nap hand for the Mariners in the 73rd minute, with Sean Kinsella pulling a second back for Rangers eight minutes later.

Blyth Spartans completed a comfortable 3-0 win over basement side Droylsden at Croft Park.

Matthew Wade gave the home side the lead on the half-hour mark and Sonny Andrews doubled that seven minutes later. It wasn`t until stoppage time at the end of the game that Spartans put the game firmly to bed with a third from Ryan Cummings.

Barwell won 2-0 at Kettering Road against Stamford AFC in the evening's other game.

Anthony Griffiths Jnr gave the Canaries a 10th minute lead that Luke Barlone added to with eight minutes of the first half remaining to secure a well earned three points away from home.
