Stamford AFC's new Zeeco Stadium was the only place able to host EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Premier Division football on Tuesday night as the Daniels took on play-off chasing Halesowen Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
The games at Blyth Spartans and Ramsbottom United both fell foul of the weather but a crowd of 244 at the league's newest ground saw the home side go down to a 2-1 defeat.
The experienced Iyesden Christie gave the visitors the lead just past the half-hour mark. But seven minutes into the second half, Jordan Smith pulled the Daniels back on level terms.
It looked as though a point apiece was on the cards until three minutes from time when Jake Jones, on as a substitute for his Halesowen debut after joining from King's Lynn Town, grabbed the winner.
The result leaves the Yeltz unbeaten now in six games and handily placed for a top five challenge.
