Tuesday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Barwell moved to within three points of the top five in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division on Tuesday night after beating out-of-form Sutton Coldfield Town at Kirkby Road, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The visitors had occupied a top five spot for the majority of the early part of the season but made it eight games without a win in the league after suffering a 2-0 defeat.

Owen Story gave the Canaries the lead on the half-hour mark. However, it wasn`t until the final minute of the game that the in-demand Brady Hickey added the home side`s second.

In contrast, Rushall Olympic hosted the division`s in-form team as Grantham Town arrived at Dales Lane having achieved four wins in their last four games – a run that has taken the Gingerbreads well clear of the drop zone.

But that run came to an abrupt end as the Pics won comfortably 4-0 and move into tenth spot. Luke Benbow gave the hosts the lead after 27 minutes. And he eventually doubled Olympic`s lead five minutes after half-time. Alex Reid made it 3-0 on the hour-mark and he added a fourth with five minutes remaining.
