Mathematically of course, `Church can still pip long-time EVO-STIK League South leaders and already-promoted Basford United to the title but they`ll be happy enough with the second automatic spot.
Jamie Willets gave Alvechurch a 13th minute lead that Tim Sanders cancelled out eight minutes later. But goals from Yusifu Ceesay, a Rhys Thompson own goal and Aaron Lloyd pulled the home side well clear, despite Kyle Diskin`s second for Grove five minutes from time.
Fourth-placed Bedworth United need a point or two just to make certain of their top six spot after losing 4-2 at Bracken Moor to Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Brodie Litchfield`s brace gave Steels a two-goal cushion by the 22nd minute. A Richard Stirrup own goal reduced the deficit three minutes before the break, but Litchfield completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot on 68 minutes.
Alex Troke pulled a second back for the Greenbacks two minutes later but a fourth from Joe Lumsden on 86 minutes completed the scoring.
Chasetown are three points behind Bedworth after a 1-1 draw at the Coach & Horses against Sheffield FC, George Cater`s 38th minute opener for the Scholars being cancelled out by Jamie Yates on 67 minutes.
Lincoln United have three games left and trail the top six by three points after a 3-1 win at second-bottom Market Drayton Town.
Rob Norris gave the visiting Whites a third minute lead that Jud Ellis cancelled out after 17 minutes. Drayton gave United a helping hand when Simon Gregory beat his own keeper to make it 2-1 in the 73rd minute and Matt Cotton added a third just two minutes later.
Gresley FC are safe after earning a 2-2 draw at neighbouring Loughborough Dynamo.
Karl Demidh gave the home side an early sixth minute lead that Reece Morris eventually levelled 10 minutes into the second half. Matt Melbourne then put the Moatmen in front six minutes later, but a penalty from Demidh seven minutes from time earned parity for Dynamo.
Belper Town players appear to have already gone to the beach as they made it 12 goals conceded in two games with a 7-0 home hammering by Cleethorpes Town at Christchurch Meadow. When the teams met earlier in the season there were eight goals scored – but they were shared!
It was only 2-0 at half-time, thanks to Luke Aldrich and Oliver Donald. But Clee went on the rampage after the break to add goals from Jack Richardson, Kieran Wressell, Brody Robertson and a Danny North brace.
