TV challenge finally finds a winner!

Farsley AFC's Corben Pankhurst is the first winner of this season's NPL Facebook Group 'Crossbar Challenge'!

The attacking midfielder hit the bar on Tuesday night at Throstle Nest during half-time against Spennymoor Town in the competition first made famous on Sky's hit Saturday show, Soccer AM.

Launched this season to entertain fans at half-time by the Northern Premier League's 3,000 plus member social media group, the competition had only seen near misses since it was first staged during Brighouse Town's 2-1 win over Radcliffe Borough on the opening day of the season back in August.

Along with the attempts of the rest of the Farsley and Moors substitutes who took part during the 1-1 draw in First Division North, the academy star's strike is now online after organisers filmed the competition for the first time.

The competition was hosted on the pitch by the NPL Facebook Group's Joseph Gibbons and spokesman Bradley Dobson admitted afterwards that there was one hiccup to the competition's smooth running. After the lack of success they'd seen so far from the fans, players and officials who've taken part, they'd forgotten to bring the winner's prize, a t-shirt, pictured, that leaves no doubt as to the magnitude of the achievement!

Dobson, one of the group's founders, said: "They did it in true Soccer AM style, running up to the camera to introduce themselves before taking the kick!

"Nobody has hit the bar up until now and we're going to do it with players much more often from now on as the crowd loved it when someone finally won.

"Unfortunately, we didn't have a shirt on us that evening so Corben will getting the shirt posted on to him as soon as possible!"
