Former Alsager Town manager Danny Griggs is looking forward to being reunited with the Dabbers faithful on Saturday when Nantwich Town host King's Lynn Town in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's top flight.

Griggs, pictured, quit the North West Counties Football League outfit this week to accept an invitation from former teammate and new Dabbers manager Phil Parkinson to become his first team coach.

Parkinson, who succeeded Danny Johnson last week, also brought in former Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield Town favourite Neil Sorvel as his assistant manager to complete his management team at the Weaver Stadium.

Griggs, 35, will no need to introduction to supporters having made more than 300 appearances for the Premier Division club, scoring 103 times in total to fire them to successive promotions, the Cheshire Senior Cup and the club's 3-1 FA Vase triumph over Hillingon Borough in 2006.

Griggs said: "I have enjoyed cutting my management teeth at Alsager and would like to thank Terry Greer and the people at Alsager for the wonderful opportunity.

"But when I got the call from Phil I didn’t need much persuading, as I obviously have a great affinity and love for Nantwich Town, its supporters and whilst there are challenges ahead, the opportunity and potential is immense.

"I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with everybody and helping to bring back some good times."

Sorvel, who played over 550 League games and is a qualified as a UEFA A Licence coach, brings a wealth of experience to Parkinson's backroom team.

He said: "I have known Phil for some time and he is a born leader with an infectious spirit and having listened to his ideas and plans, together with his obvious love and passion for the club.

"I am delighted to be here and looking forward to helping towards coaching and producing a successful team that will play entertaining and attractive football and whilst we have only had the chance to meet the players and train on one occasion, the quality and attitude is terrific and I can’t wait to get going."
