Watson to nuture next generation

Integro League Cup finalists Grantham Town have named Alex Watson as the new head of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club's academy.

Watson, who previously coached at St Neots Academy and was also founder and head coach of Thurlby Tigers, has been appointed to use his existing links within education to boost both the educational and football aspects of the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's academy programme.

In a statement unveiling Watson, pictured, ahead of their 2-1 defeat by Bamber Bridge in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's showpiece final at Leek Town's Harrison Park on Wednesday night, Susan Harvey, James Edey and Mark Bland were also named as new coaches at the Meres set-up.
