Web success sparks recruitment drive

Ashton United looking for a commercial manager to build on the growing success of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's official website.

The Premier Division's Robins say they've been astounded by the levels of interest in their website after learning that it is now ranked among the top ten most popular Pitchero sites in the UK. Pitchero provide websites for hundreds of clubs from football and others sports and this week alone Ashton's site attracted more than 20,000 hits from over 4,000 unique users.

As a result, the Robins are now looking to appoint a dedicated commercial guru to take advantage and build on the massive interest it is generating at Hurst Cross as well as looing after advertising and sponsorship around the ground and in their matchday programmes.

Ashton United Director Steve Hobson said: "These figures are remarkable. The club knows from the website figures that there is massive local interest and is seeking to introduce local businesses to the marketplace generated by the club's goodwill."

United say the successful applicant will have worked in the football industry or sales and will bring in new business income through sponsorship, advertising and other fundraising activities led by their club lottery. He or she will also take responsibility for looking after current sponsors at Hurst Cross.

Remuneration for the position is on a self-employed and commission only basis but with no maximum earnings limit and rewards paid in line with those achieved by the club. Applications will be considered up to midnight on Sunday 15 September after which a shortlist will be drawn up and successful candidates invited to interview.
