Darlington 1883 scored a goal in each half to record their sixth successive win against Ossett Albion at Heritage Park and go back to the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North table on Wednesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Quakers had several chances to take the lead during the opening 45 minutes but Albion keeper Neil Bennett kept them at bay until the third minute of stoppage time when Stephen Thompson’s ball into the box from the left was deflected into Gary Brown’s path and the skipper unselfishly pulled the ball back for Amar Purewal to side-foot his ninth goal of the season.

The Quakers eventually went 2-0 up just past the hour-mark when Adam Mitchell crossed for Purewal to head on for Alan White to head home. Bennett pulled off another great save when Purewal headed Thompson’s free-kick towards the bottom corner, and White put the rebound wide, but there was very little threat coming from the visitors as Darlington marched on.
