Wednesday's First Division North action review

By David Watters

The only game in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North on Wednesday night saw second-placed Northwich Victoria reduce the deficit on leaders Warrington Town to eight points, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

And the second placed side still enjoy three games in hand over the Wire after going nap at home against third-bottom Ossett Town.

The Vics got back to winning ways with a powerful first half performance which saw them turn round 4-0 up.

Richie Bennett bagged a brace in the 18th and 24th minute to give the hosts a cushion. Gary Burnett made it 3-0 just past the half-hour mark and Iain Howard added the fourth right on the whistle for the break.

Howard went on to score the only goal of the second period in the 58th minute as, inevitably, Ossett fought back.
