Wednesday's First Division South action review

Evo-Stik NPL First Division South

The only Wednesday night match in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South saw Leek Town cement second place in the table after a late win against Sutton Coldfield Town at Harrison Park, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Royals still have a chance of making the play-offs, but it would mean winning the majority of their remaining five games and Belper Town, currently in fifth, losing most of their six.

A youthful Sutton Coldfield went ahead after just 12 minutes through Luke Edwards and it took the home side until two minutes into the second period to level through winger John Johnston, back with the club on loan after being sold to Crewe Alexandra in the January transfer window.

But the Royals restored their lead after 68 minutes with Edwards again the marksman. Johnston matched Edwards with a second to restore parity in the 76th minute, and as a draw looked likely, popped up with the winner with less than three minutes remaining.

The win leaves Leek a point behind leaders Halesowen Town with a game in hand.
