EVO-STIK NPL First Division South

Leek Town produced a tremendous performance on Wednesday night to hammer EVO-STIK Northern Premier League First Division South leaders Sutton Coldfield Town 6-1 at Harrison Park, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Leek took a 19th minute lead in the only league fixture of the night when a long ball forward was collected by Tim Grice who turned and fired home past Royals keeper Lee Evans.

The home side doubled their advantage five minutes later when Dan Shelley's shot was saved by Evans, only for Grice to tap home the rebound. And two minutes after that it was 3-0 when the persistence of Liam Shotton ended with him beating his man and netting from a tight angle.

The visitors pulled themselves back into the game with a goal from close range from Tom Turton five minutes later before the Blues struck again on the hour mark, Shelley the first to smash home a rebound after a Shotton effort had thumped back off the bar.

Two minutes later and it was a nap hand for Lee Casswell`s side when Grice fired home his hat-trick goal from the edge of the box. Matt Bell added the icing on the cake in the final minute when he bundled the ball home from close to make it 6-1.
