Wednesday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division

Despite taking the lead in the first minute, Frickley Athletic suffered a 3-2 defeat at play-off chasing Worksop Town in the only game in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division on Wednesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Luke Hinsley headed in a cross from Chris Fisher with just 46 seconds gone but defensive frailties again led to poor goals being conceded as Worksop equalised on seven minutes through Steve Towers and then took the lead eight minutes later through big striker Tom Denton.

Jake Picton levelled the scores on 21 minutes only for the Blues' defence to switch off as Worksop re-took the lead just a minute later - again through Towers. Defences at both ends tightened up after that and the Tigers held on to slip into fourth place.

However, the race for play-off places is very tight, with only seven points separating twelfth-placed AFC Fylde, who have games in hand on most above them, and the Tigers in fourth.

At the other end of the table, Frickley are likely to be without forward Gavin Allott when they travel to Stafford Rangers this weekend after he was taken off injured at Sandy Lane.
