Wednesday's South Division review

By David Watters

Lincoln United were looking to build on last Saturday’s impressive win at Chasetown when they entertained EVO-STIK League South newcomers Peterborough Sports at Ashby Avenue on Wednesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The United Counties League champions had also started the new campaign well with a win against Kidsgrove Athletic. An entertaining affair, despite the lack of goals, ended 0-0 but either side could have won it in an even affair.

Kidsgrove and Chasetown met each other on Wednesday looking for their first points and got one apiece from a 1-1 draw.

The deadlock was broken just past the hour-mark when the Scholars took the lead. Grove were caught out from a free-kick, and Muzzy Nduna volleyed the visitors ahead.

Kidsgrove levelled with seven minutes remaining – arguably against the run of play – with a long-range effort from Lee Cropper that flew in off the post.
