Weekend Preview: Non-League Day

We’re back for a full round of action in the BetVictor Premier Division with all 22-teams featuring on Non-League Day.

At the top of the table, Club of the Month South Shields continue their dominance in the league with a 10-point lead over next best Mickleover Sports in second spot.

The Mariners travel to 13th-placed Witton Albion on a eight-game winning streak, with their latest coming over Stalybridge Celtic with goals from David Foley and Rob Briggs securing a 2-1 victory.

Witton head into the fixture on the back of two consecutive 1-1 draws against both Bamber Bridge and Stafford Rangers.

At the other end of the table, bottom place Stafford Rangers travel to Flamingo Land Stadium to face Scarborough Athletic as Boro still search for their first league win of the season. In the same fixture last year, the Seadogs claimed a 4-1 victory at home with goals from James Williamson, Luke Lofts, James Walshaw and an own-goal.

Mickleover travel to The Proctor Cars Stadium to face Matlock Town, who are creeping up to a play-off spot in seventh place. John McGrath’s side are on a four-game unbeaten streak, whilst their opponents most recently suffered a 2-1 defeat to Scarborough.

With Whitby and Nantwich both in FA Cup action last weekend, Basford United took advantage and are now third in the league and with a game in hand over Mickleover.

Morpeth Town host the in-form Basford, as Steve Chettle’s side head into the fixture off the back of a 1-1 draw with Mickleoever Sports as Liam Henderson scored his fifth goal of the season.

Last year’s play-off finalists Warrington Town travel to Whitby Town, with just 5 points separating the Yellows from second spot with two games in hand.

Nantwich Town, on a five-game unbeaten streak, host Radcliffe who registered a much needed first home win in the Premier Division as they beat Hyde United 3-0 last weekend.

Buxton will go into the weekend full of confidence following their outstanding 7-0 victory over Grantham Town in the mid-week fixture, as Diego De Girolamo claimed the match ball with a hat-trick, as well as goals from Liam Hardy, Connor O’Grady and a double from Jude Oyibo.

The Bucks travel to Broadhurst Park to face FC United of Manchester, who have four wins and sit 11th in the table.

Gainsborough Trinity host Atherton Collieries as both teams look for wins to climb further up in the league.

Off the back of the 7-0 loss, Grantham Town host Hyde United in a mid table clash.

Just outside of a play-off spot, Lancaster City host 16th-placed Ashton United, and Bamber Bridge travel to Stalybridge Celtic.

Just the two games in the BetVictor S/East Division this weekend, with the remaining 16 teams featuring in the FA Trophy preliminary round.

Frickley Athletic play hosts to Sheffield FC with six points separating the two sides in the table and both sides knocked out of the FA Trophy by Cleethorpes Town and Clitheroe retrospectively.

The two sides met earlier in the week in the Integro League Cup, in which Sheffield will progress to the next round after defeating Freckly 4-3 on penalties after it a 1-1 deadlock after full time.

In the other fixture, Lincoln United host Loughborough Dynamo.

In the N/West division, second-placed Tadcaster Albion host Widnes, whilst Marine travel to Marske United.

There is also 16 FA Trophy Preliminary Round fixtures this weekend, all kicking off at 3:00pm.

Market Drayton Town, Pickering Town and Stocksbridge Park Steels are feature in the FA Trophy on Sunday.
