West Round-up: Defeat for the three "C's"

By James Gordon

The three 'C' clubs were in action at home in the EVO-STIK League West Division on Tuesday night!

Struggling Chasetown lost to Trafford, Clitheroe went nap against Droylsden, while Colne missed the opportunity to go third when they lost to Kidsgrove Athletic.

Colne started the evening in sixth spot, five points behind leaders Runcorn Linnets, and were still there at the end of the game after 'Grove secured a 3-1 success at the XLCR Stadium.

Lewis Burgin put the visitors in front after 20 minutes and Chris Budrys doubled that advantage 3 minutes before the break.

Bradley Lynch pulled one back for the Lancastrians 12 minutes after the restart, but the impressive Kidsgrove outfit made the points safe with a third from Kyle Diskin with 7 minutes remaining.

Trafford moved into fourth place in the table after a 2-0 success at The Scholars Ground against fourth-bottom Chasetown.

Jack Dorney gave the visitors a good start with the opening goal after 9 minutes.

Seven minutes into the second half, Aaron Burns made it 2-0 to Trafford – a lead the hosts were unable to dent.

Meanwhile at Shawbridge, Clitheroe and Droylsden started the evening in the bottom five. But after the Blues hit five, they moved up to fifteenth in the table

After making a lively start and having taken the lead as early as the 5th minute through Michael Brewster's penalty, the Bloods were reduced to ten-men when Brewster was shown a straight red card for a challenge on midfielder Hyuga Tanner on 23 minutes.

Jamie Rainford equalised on the stroke of half-time before the floodgates opened in the second half.

Eight minutes in and Lewis Sugden put Clitheroe in front and the same player made it 3-1 just past the hour-mark.

Rainford's second of the night came from a 79th minute spot-kick and Antoine Recizac made it a nap hand for the Blues in the 88th minute.
