The academy will launch on Friday November 9, and will be the flagship project of Whitby Town’s brand new charitable foundation, the Whitby Town FC Foundation.
Sessions will take place every Friday night between 6-7pm at Caedmon Astroturf, for age groups under 6 to under 12.
The sessions will be led by McTiernan himself, an experienced coach who worked in Middlesbrough’s academy for seven years, working with players such as Dael Fry and Ben Gibson.
McTiernan currently works as a lead coach for highly established professional football academy Premier Player.
Joining McTiernan on the coaching side will be Blues star Dale Hopson, and specialist academy goalkeeping coach Shane Bland. There will also be specialist fitness coaches joining the team.
The first two sessions will be completely free, with the soccer school then costing £25 a month by direct debit.
Upon setting up the academy, McTiernan said: “the vision is to reconnect the football club with the community by bringing high-quality football coaching to the town.
“We want to bring players through that potentially could work with Whitby Town in the future, or even go on to professional clubs.
“The aim is to improve all players and we have no links to any teams we are just coaching the individuals.”
