The experienced Wilson, pictured, will have a watching brief on Wednesday night when the Ducks host North Gawber in the quarter-finals of the Sheffield & Hallam Senior Cup before taking his place alongside Quinn for Saturday's visit of Coalville Town in the EVO-STIK League's top flight.
Quinn and Shaw Lane chairman Craig Wood moved swiftly to replace Reed on Tuesday following his exit at the end of last week after three years at the club to become newly appointed Gainsborough Trinity manager Lee Sinnott's new number two at the National League North outfit.
Wilson played over 300 games in the Football League, including more than 200 for Fulham. Capped by the Republic of Ireland at U21 level, the former midfielder also enjoyed spells with Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United before retiring from full-time football in the early 1990s.
After finishing his playing career, Wilson completed his coaching qualifications before joining Huddersfield’s academy staff where he coached for seven years. He later teamed up with Quinn at Brighouse Town, helping the Ducks win promotion to the EVO-STIK League in 2014 before taking a break from the game in 2016.
Wilson is looking forward to his new challenge after being reunited with Quinn and told the club's official Pitchero website: “I am delighted to be joining up with Paul again. I’m really looking forward to working with the staff and players to help drive the club forward.
“We spoke at length about the current squad, the plans moving forward on and off the field and my remit alongside the other staff at the club. As a team we are in a great position and we will all be doing everything we can to achieve the highest possible finish this season.”
Quinn said: “I’m delighted Rob has agreed to join us at Shaw Lane, his experience will be invaluable for players and staff alike.”
Wilson's arrival comes after a major overhaul of the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's management and coaching structures in recent weeks to boost their short and longer term aims, including the appointment of long-standing club official Doug O’Connor as head of football operations, Mark Duffy as head scout and a player and match analysis team led by Luke Couchman and Liam Harrison.
Couchman, formerly of Silsden FC, will work directly on video analysis of games. Harrison, who formerly held a role at Brighouse Town, will lead on the use of Playertek, which uses GPS to track player movements on the pitch.
