Winger cleared to start scoring again

Ashton United

Winger Scott Harries has joined Ashton United on a loan deal from EVO-STIK Northern Premier League rivals Northwich Victoria, writes James Burch.

The former Kendal Town man, pictured collecting a man of the match award last season, arrives at Hurst Cross to bolster the squad of co-manager Paul Phillips and Steve Halford. With his chances at Vics limited this term, the 23-year-old hasn't scored since pre-season and the joint managers are hoping he'll add more goals to their Robins side.

The Premier Division club's vice-chairman Steve Hobson confirmed on Friday that the player's registration had gone through and the wide man is expected to play a big part in United's next few games as they bid to build on a run of four wins from their last five outings.

The Robins head to Buxton on Saturday in the FA Trophy and Phillips said: "Scott is a very good player. We've been short on the wings recently due to injuries and Harries coming in gives us options.

"He has pace which you need in this league and he can add goals to the team. He is versatile and can play left or right wing and Northwich’s loss is certainly our gain."
