Wire bag pick of the ties in televised draw

The FA Cup First Round Draw

Warrington Town manager Shaun Reid saw his EVO-STIK Northern Premier League side bag the plum tie in Monday night's televised FA Cup First Round Draw.

Reid was at the Football Association's St George's Park for the 7pm draw which was made live on BBC 2 and saw his First Division North club drawn at home to League Two Exeter City after reaching the First Round Proper for the first time in the club's history thanks to a 1-0 win over North Ferriby United on Saturday.

The BBC's Mark Chapman hosted the draw and a delighted Reid told him afterwards: "We're made up. The lads are really pleased with the draw. This is massive for our club."

If Spennymoor Town can overcome AFC Telford when the sides replay on Tuesday night, the winners face a trip south to face either Conference South Basingstoke or the Ryman Premier's Harrow Borough.

Blyth Spartans, winners of Saturday's 3-4 thriller in the Fourth Qualifying Round at First Division South Leek Town, will fancy their chances of adding to the club's long history of success in the cup after being drawn at home to Conference Premier Altrincham.

First Division South Norton United go again in the North East on Wednesday night when they replay at Shildon, the lowest ranked club left in this season's competition, with the carrot of hosting Conference Premier Gateshead.

The ties will be played over the weekend starting November 7 with the winners collecting £18,000 in prize money.
