Workington striker set for exit door

Workington AFC have announced that striker James Hooper will leave the club following a seven-day notice of approach from another club.

Hooper only arrived at the Pitching In NPL West Division side in July, reuniting with former Carlisle United team-mate and current Reds boss Danny Grainger in the process.

The 25-year-old has featured for a number of clubs throughout his career, including Atherton Collieries, Witton Albion, Altrincham, West Didsbury & Chorlton, Altrincham, Salford City, Radcliffe and FC United of Manchester.

On the news, Workington boss Danny Grainger said: “After having a good conversation with Hoops, the work and travel commitments have become too much for him.

“He has had an offer closer to home which suits him at this moment in time.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank him for all his efforts, and we wish him all the best.”
