Wrens launch physio hunt

Rainworth Miners’ Welfare are looking to recruit a new physiotherapist for the second half of the season, writes Gordon Foster.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club's current physio Kelly Beswick has won promotion as a chartered physiotherapist that the Wrens say will severely cut down her availability to the club. Beswick is not leaving totally but manager Kevin Gee is now looking for another physio to come in and take over the bulk of her workload.

Gee said: "We are of course delighted by Kelly’s promotion which we believe is richly deserved but obviously the extra workload and time commitment makes it very difficult for her to continue to commit to Rainworth three times a week.

"Therefore, after having a long conversation with Kelly it became clear that it was just becoming ‘all work and no play’ for her. With the football side every weekend and two commitments twice in the evenings on top of her main job, it meant that sometimes she would leave her house at 7.30am and not return home until midnight, with another early start the next day, which is unrealistic and not fair to her.

"Kelly is not walking away totally and will continue to assist when she can. I cannot compliment Kelly enough in the 14 months since I've been at the club as her professional work has been first class and is appreciated by all at the club. More importantly, the players respect her knowledge and advice so there are big boots to fill."

Applicants should contact manager Kevin Gee via email at: kevin.gee7@ntlworld.com.
