Halesowen Town's chairman Colin Brookes is set to take charge of the Yeltz's FA Trophy replay against Biggleswade on Tuesday night with the Yeltz inching closer to finding a permanent replacement for the departed Shaun Cunnington.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Chairman looked to be on his way to victory on his managerial debut in the Preliminary Round on Saturday at Evo-Stik Southern Biggleswade and could soon step aside after the Yeltz revealed on Monday that they've had a 'superb' response from possible candidates.

Brookes' team took a 2-0 lead into half-time with goals from Ben Haseley and Luke Corbett but he faces a replay and another game in the hot seat with club physio Pete Denham by his side after a spirited fightback from the home side to snatch a 2-2 draw.

Former manager Cunnington and his assistant Paul Tomlinson both resigned last Tuesday with the club's best wishes. The Yeltz have been considering applications for the post since and on Wednesday night a selection committee will draw up a short list of candidates.

Interviews are pencilled in to start next week and a new manager is expected to be in place before the end of the month, meaning Brookes must take charge for a third time on Saturday when the Yeltz travel to Brigg in the league.

The Yeltz say their priority now is to give their incoming manager the chance of competing in the FA Trophy and a spokesman urged supporters to get behind the team in Tuesday night's replay.

He said: "The football club would like to thank the supporters for their patience during this time and urges all supporters to get behind the team, starting with our FA Trophy replay tie against Biggleswade Town. The winners of this game will go on to meet Gresley Rovers at home in the next round so please get behind the lads and Colin and the temporary management team."

Managerial applications along with CVs should be sent to Halesowen's Club Secretary at: secretary@ht-fc.com
