Young forward signs for Skelmersdale

Skelmersdale United have announced the signing of Max McCarthy from FC United of Manchester.

McCarthy began his career at Stoke City and had loan spells for Congleton and Stafford Rangers before making his move to FC United in July this year.

The 19-year-old netted two goals for FC United this season including a last minute winner in their 1-0 triumph over Witton Albion in the FA Trophy first qualifying round.

Skelmersdale currently sit fifteenth in the NPL West Division, with nine points from eight games so far this season.

Richard Brodie’s side have lost three consecutive games in the league and will hope the addition of McCarthy can bolster Skem’s attack.

McCarthy will be available for selection ahead of Blueboys’ trip to The Offside Trust Stadium as they face off against 1874 Northwich on Saturday.
