The Glassboys say they are "shocked and saddened" to learn of the death of midfielder Ryan Passey last weekend after an incident outside a nightclub in Stourbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 6).
The 24-year-old played in midfield for the EVO-STIK League Premier club's youth team under the management of former youth team boss Dave King and was a popular member of the 2010-11 treble winning side that won the league title, the MFYL League Cup and the Worcestershire County Youth Cup. He also played for Team Dudley.
As floral tributes mounted outside the nightspot this week, pictured, a club statement read: "We have been shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the death of our former youth team player Ryan Passey in tragic circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time. RIP Ryan."
King told stourbridgenews.co.uk: "He was a lovely lad. He was just a genuine lad who got on well all the rest of the lads on the team; he always conducted himself in the right way. He was aged between 15 and 18 when he was with Stourbridge - we called it the dream team as we won everything for about two years. It's hard to take in what's happened."
Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the incident as West Midlands Police police continue their investigation into the killing.
