Airbus trail McCarthy

Leek Town update, by Michael Cope

League of Wales outfit Airbus Broughton have been pursuing Leek Town striker James McCarthy since the New Year but Blues turned down several offers for the 14-goal striker before accepting a four-figure bid that allowed them to speak to the player.

However, indications are that the talented front-runner will remain at Harrison Park and club officials are delighted with his decision.

Several clubs have shown an interest in the former Colwyn Bay star this season including Hinckley United who served seven days notice of approach following the epic FA Cup replay between the two clubs but the Leicestershire outfit had to be reminded that the player was on contract.

Senior Cup clash at Kidsgrove
Blues make the short journey to Kidsgrove on Tuesday looking to progress to the semi-finals of the Staffordshire Senior Cup 7.45pm.

Leek reached this stage following a first-round win at home to Stafford Rangers earlier in the season and hope to record a first victory of the season over Grove after drawing and losing in league action this term.

Blues will have virtually a full squad to choose from but it seems likely that Tim Grice, Olly Edwards, Christian Millar and Sean Turner will all figure whilst Ricky Bridge and Dan Cope have been called up into the squad.
