Frickley Athletic have taken up a year's option on Gavin Allott's contract to extend his stay at Westfield Lane as the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club celebrated their FA reprieve from relegation this week.
The Blues, who finished fourth from bottom, were saved from dropping out of the Evo-Stik NPL’s top flight on Thursday thanks to the FA’s annual allocation of clubs in next season’s pyramid.
Allott, pictured with one of his many awards this season, has scored 64 goals for the club in his two seasons, 34 in the last campaign. As a result, he is now the Premier Division outfit’s joint eighth highest scorer in a season – level with Andy Hayward who managed the same total twice.
Officials say Athletic manager Karl Rose is now in discussions with the club’s three other contracted players whose deals expired after the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Final. He is also talking to a number of non-contract players who he hopes to retain and a number of other summer targets.
