Salford City have asked Andy Heald to use his experience to hold the fort as caretaker manager following Darren Sheridan's resignation.
Heald, 32, joined the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club in the summer and at one time assisted Sheridan who left Moor Lane on Saturday following a recent budget review.
The Evo-Stik NPL First Division North outfit announced on Tuesday that the midfielder turned defender, pictured, will take charge of Saturday's home game against Harrogate Railway Athletic.
Heald has plenty of experience to call upon having made the transition from accomplished midfielder to defender after signing for Sheridan in August following a playing career that has taken in both Leigh RMI and Leigh Genesis, Stalybridge Celtic and several successful years at near neighbours Radcliffe Borough prior to moving on to Curzon Ashton and Warrington.
