Award honours magnificent Moors

After their own heroics in the Emirates FA Cup, it was fitting that Spennymoor Town collected their first EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Club of the Month accolade of the season before hosting second round bound Stourbridge in the top flight.

Named as one of October's winners alongside Glossop North End in EVO-STIK NPL First Division North and Shaw Lane AFC in First Division South, Spennymoor Town director Mike Rowcroft and manager Jason Ainsley Team are pictured being presented with a glass trophy to record the club's achievement by EVO-STIK NPL representative Laura Drew.

Like all winners, the Moors also collected a bottle of spirits from the sponsors at The Brewery Field to toast their success with before last weekend's 2-2 draw.

The monthly competition to recognise and reward the league's top performers in league and national cup competitions is being sponsored once again this season by Bostik, parent company of the Northern Premier League's title sponsors EVO-STIK. Choosing the winners of the top flight's laurels was the toughest of the three divisions to decide as a number of clubs were in the running including Matlock Town, Nantwich Town and the Glassboys.

After much consideration, Ainsley's Moors won the poll for their steady progress in the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division - two draws and two wins, including a 7-0 hammering dished out to Skelmersdale United - combined with impressive victories over Chorley and Lincoln United in the Emirates FA Cup's final qualifying rounds to book their trip to MK Dons in the first round proper.

Currently sixth in the table but only five points behind leaders Whitby Town with two games in hand, the Moors are away at Nantwich Town on Saturday.
