Bank Holiday Monday's First North review

By David Watters

Lancaster City moved three points clear at the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North table after Bank Holiday Monday`s round of matches, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The division lost three games to postponements but the Dolly Blues edged out mid-table Bamber Bridge 3-2 at the Giant Axe.

Jordan Connerton`s good scoring run continued with the opener after just 6 minutes. But Jamie Milligan equalised from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark and then Regan Linney put Brig in front just before half-time.

Jacob Gregory eventually equalised 12 minutes from time and then Louis Mayers won it for the hosts in the 88th minute.

Second-placed Ossett Town lost the derby to Ossett Albion at Dimple Wells – Will Wells winning it for lowly Albion eight minutes from time in front of a crowd of 541.

Trafford moved up to third place after a 2-1 home win over Radcliffe Borough.

In front of 304, Elliot Rokka broke the deadlock to give Boro a 67th minute lead. Ashley Woods equalised six minutes later and an own goal by Lassana Nalatche Mendes 12 minutes from time sealed the home side`s win.

Scarborough Athletic moved into fourth spot as a consequence of their 2-0 win over second-bottom Goole AFC and Glossop North End`s 2-1 defeat at Hyde United.

A crowd of 461 at Queensgate saw a brace from Jacob Hazel in the 61st and 73rd minutes win it for Boro, while 638 were at Ewen Fields for the derby against the Hillmen, whose Mike Norton gave them a 23rd minute lead.

But Matt Beadle two minutes into the second half and David McGurk in the last minute, turned it the Tigers way.

Farsley Celtic are sixth, two points behind Glossop and with three games in hand after going nap in the Yorkshire derby at Throstle Nest against Tadcaster Albion.

Richard Marshall scored the only first half goal five minutes before the interval. James Walshaw eventually doubled Celtic`s lead after 69 minutes, with Tom Allan pulling one back for Taddy three minutes later.

But a second for Marshall on 81 minutes and for Walshaw on 89 minutes took the game away from the visitors. Deep into added time the icing was added to the cake as Walshaw secured his third hat-trick of the season.

Elsewhere, Brighouse Town won 2-1 at home to Colwyn Bay with goals from Tom Dugdale after 13 minutes and Luke Parkin from the spot five minutes before the break – Bay`s reply being a last-gasp own goal from Adam Field.

And Colne edged out Kendal Town 3-2 at home with a last-minute Connor Gaul effort after Mark Ayres from the spot and recent signing Sefton Gonzales had cancelled out Sam Bailey`s first half brace for the Mintcakes.
