Carlton Town are the only team in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South who still possess a 100 per cent record after Bank Holiday Monday's round of fixtures, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Ruben Wiggins-Thomas scored his fiftieth goal for Carlton with a 51st minute penalty as the Millers beat Sheffield FC 1-0 at home.

Leek Town made it ten points out of a possible twelve with a derby day victory over Newcastle Town at Harrison Park. Jordan Johnson after 15 minutes and Sam Hall on 28, gave the home side a two-goal cushion that Castle were only able to breach once through Ashley Hill five minutes from time.

Romulus, who struggled last season, also have ten from twelve after winning the Coles Lane derby against landlords Sutton Coldfield Town. Marcus Brown bagged a brace for Roms either side of the half-time whistle, with Luke Chapman replying for the Royals on 62 minutes.

At the opposite end of the table, Brigg Town are still looking for their first point after going down to a 2-1 defeat at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds to Goole AFC. However, the Zebras suffered late heartbreak, conceding twice in the last two minutes and will feel hard done by. Brigg had led from the 12th minute through Paul Grimes' free-kick before the hosts mounted a late fight back with goals from George Wysocki and Brice Tiani.

Goals from Aden Moore and David Blenkinsopp earned Bedworth United a remarkable first win of the season at Gresley after the Greenbacks played with ten-men for 87 minutes at The Moat following midfielder Aaron Forde's sending off in the third minute for dangerous play.

Ady Fuller's team battled on superbly and even missed a first half penalty before securing the points against the odds with goals in the 67th and 88th minutes. Moore made up for his penalty miss by curling in a dipping ball from 20 yards and Blenkinsopp was in the right spot to tap in the second against his former club.

Belper Town eased to a 4-0 Christchurch Meadow win over Mickleover Sports, with Richard Adams and Jon Froggatt scoring twice in two minutes midway through the first half. Shaun Tuton then bagged a brace in the 31st and 39th minutes – the first coming from the spot.

Halesowen Town won 3-1 at The Scholars against Chasetown with three goals in a 17-minute spell starting with Neil Mackenzie`s penalty in the 20th, Ben Haseley adding a second immediately afterwards and then Elliott Turner making it 3-0. Paul Sullivan grabbed a last-gasp consolation for the home side.

Loughborough Dynamo won their home Leicestershire derby, thanks to Nathan Kelly just before half-time and Rob Norris' 66th minute spot-kick after Phil Watt had equalised for Coalville Town just after the break.

Kidsgrove Athletic and Market Drayton Town shared a goalless draw, while Eastwood Town and Rainworth Miners Welfare drew 1-1 at Coronation Park. Kieran Wells gave the Badgers a 50th minute lead that Jamie Clarke levelled 13 minutes from time.

The game between Lincoln United and Scarborough Athletic at Ashby Avenue saw the visitors come back from three-down to earn a point. Andy Hutchinson from the spot on 31 minutes gave the home side the lead. Josh Bowden doubled it four minutes later and then Andy Toyne added a third five minutes after the restart.

But veteran striker Gary Bradshaw began the comeback with a 66th minute penalty, Andy Milne reduced the deficit to one with 15 minutes to go and then Lewis Clarkson earned the Seadogs a point in injury-time – all watched from the stand by Lincoln boss Dave Frecklington, who was `sent-off` just after half-time.
