By David Watters

Nantwich Town, Farsley Celtic, Grantham Town, Matlock Town and Hyde United all lost for the first time in the EVO-STIK League's Premier Division on Bank Holiday Monday, writes Steve Whitney at Non League Today.

Only two teams now remain unbeaten in the Northern Premier League's top flight, Stalybridge Celtic and Bamber Bridge.

Nantwich lost 2-0 at Wincham Park against a Witton Albion side who made it back-to-back holiday weekend wins, Rob Hopley bagging both of Albion`s goals after 27 and 50 minutes.

Farsley went down to a 2-1 Throstle Nest defeat to a Hednesford Town side who were beaten themselves on Saturday.

Jed Davies put the Pitmen in front immediately after half-time. Will Hayhurst`s penalty 12 minutes from time pulled Celtic level, only for Jermain Hollis to win it for the visitors in the 86th minute.

Grantham beat Scarborough Athletic at The Meres on Saturday, but lost 3-1 at promoted Basford United, who seem to have found their Premier Division feet after also earning three points 48 hours earlier.

Jack Thomas gave the hosts a seventh minute lead that was cancelled out within a minute from recent signing Ryan Oliver. James Reid restored Basford`s lead after 15 minutes and then a Matt Thornhill effort on 64 minutes sealed their win.

Matlock didn`t have a game on Saturday and were beaten 4-2 at the Northolme by a Gainsborough Trinity side who made it successive holiday wins.

But Shane Clarke put the home side back in the lead in the 76th minute and Liam King made sure with a fourth goal 11 minutes from time.

Hyde United, another side who didn`t have a league game on Saturday, lost their unbeaten record thanks to a 55th minute Liam Hardy effort at Silverlands as Buxton secured their first win.

Stalybridge remain unbeaten after new boy Neil Kengni`s 67th minute effort proved enough at Bower Fold against Workington AFC.

North Ferriby United and Marine AFC both recorded first victories of 2018-19.

The relegated Villagers beat promoted South Shields 3-0 at the Eon Visual Medium Stadium with goals from Luke Hinsley after six minutes and again a minute from time, sandwiched by a goal right on half-time from Jordan Harrison.

The Mariners made it played four, lost four for Lancaster City after a 1-0 win at the Giant Axe, courtesy of an early second minute Chris Doyle effort.
