Bedford defender makes Spalding switch

Spalding United have announced the signing of defender Sam Warburton from Bedford Town.

Warburton, 26, made 34 appearances for the Eagles this season after joining from Souther Premier League side Rushden & Diamonds in July 2022.

The former Northampton Town left-back has a wealth of non-league experience from his time at Rugby Town, Nuneaton, Kings Lynn and Corby.

Warburton joins Spalding United who currently sit in third place in the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division.

On his new signing, Tulips' manager Elliot Sandy said: "I’m delighted to be able to bring Sam on board, he has a wealth of experience at a higher level and is exactly the type of player we need to keep the club pushing forward."

He will go straight into contention for their next game away at Daventry Town on Tuesday evening.
