EVO-STIK League Coalville Town have congratulated their treasurer on reaching his ninetieth birthday on the eve of the new season.

Ravens stalwart Jack Sarson, pictured, reached the grand old age last week and has been preparing for the start of his 65th consecutive season in local football with the First Division South club kicking off at home to Romulus on Saturday.

Club secretary Peter Walford paid tribute to their official and revealed that he is likely to be around for many years yet managing their finances as he’s certainly keeping abreast of the latest developments in accountancy and technology despite his seniority!

Walford said: "Everyone at Coalville Town Football Club would like to wish Jack a happy birthday and offer our sincere thanks for his huge contribution, not only to our club, but also to local football in Leicestershire.

"Down the years Jack has been a wonderful and active member of Coalville Town FC and although he no longer travels to away matches he is still present at all the club’s home games. Jack’s computer skills are legendary and his bookkeeping is excellent, only requiring a quick check by our accountants to be passed each year."

He added: "He sets up spreadsheets, uses Skype, emails regularly and has truly embraced the digital age and we are all extremely proud to have such a wonderful, proficient and knowledgeable gentleman in our midst."
