Bloods hit the road to meet brothers!

Fans of EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Droylsden have been meeting their 'Bloods' brothers down south!

Four intrepid fans of the First Division North's Bloods made the 350 mile round trip at the end of last month to the north western corner of Essex to visit Saffron Walden Town, home to Non-League's other Bloods.

Simon Miller, Clare Brown, Mark Self, aka 'Chunky', and Martin Coldwell are pictured presenting their counterparts at the Eastern Counties League First Division outfit with a scarf and signed replica shirt courtesy of manager Dave Pace, his backroom staff and the players back at the Butcher’s Arms.

Droylsden's quartet saw their hosts beat King’s Lynn Reserves 3-1 to top the table with Swaffham Town and they are now considering doing a sponsored cycle ride from the Butcher’s Arms to Catons Lane some time in the Spring to coincide with an end of season match after revealing that they'd been treated like kings and plied with copious amounts of food and drink by their hosts.

Miller, who pioneered the idea of the historic visit, said: "We had been in touch with the club before our visit, but from the moment we arrived, we were treated like old friends – allowed stadium entrance for half price, got stuffed with shepherd’s pie, and their fans were keen to hear all about the other Bloods from up north!"
