Blyth Spartans

Blyth Spartans announced the signing of experienced target man Andy Jennings from Billingham Synthonia on Friday in time for Saturday's clash with Witton Albion at Croft Park.

Jennings was a summer signing for the Northern League First Division Synners, having previously played for Billingham Town, Jarrow Roofing and Sunderland RCA.

The Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club's manager Paddy Atkinson believes the 29-year-old Teesider will improve his options.

Welcoming Jennings to the club, he said: “We’re pleased to get him on board, we’re trying to build a squad that is right for the demands of this league and Andy is the kind of player that we think will be ideal, as he will bring an entirely different dimension to our play.

“He’s 6`5” and will win the majority of his headers. We are hoping that he gets amongst the goals as he has done throughout his career but also that we can use his strengths to benefit the players around him.”
