Bolder in hospital after chest pains

New Scarborough Athletic chairman Trevor Bull accompanied midfielder Chris Bolder to hospital on Saturday after the club's assistant manager was taken ill during their 2-0 win at Mossley in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League.

Play was stopped in the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North clash at Seel Park five minutes before the break after the 34-year-old complained of chest pains before being restarted after a delay of nearly 30 minutes while Bolder was treated on the pitch before being moved to the host's medical room.

The former Ossett Town, Guiseley and North Ferriby star, who played in the Football League for Grimsby Town after coming through the youth ranks at Hull City, was wished a speedy recovery on Saturday night by the Lilyhwites after being taken to Tameside General Hospital by ambulance for treatment and tests.

Thankfully, Bolder was released from hospital on Saturday night and a Seadogs spokesman said: "The club would like to let everyone know that chairman Trevor Bull has just spoken to Chris Bolder and are happy to report that Chris has now been released from hospital and is on his way home.

"Everyone at the club would like to wish Chris all the best for a quick recovery, and thank all those who have sent their best wishes his way."

Bolder, the brother of fellow Seadogs midfielder Adam who was also on the field, stepped up alongside Matty Bloor in 2015 to take temporary charge of the first team and was key to the subsequent appointment of Steve Kittrick as manager.

Lifelong fan Bull was appointed as the successor to the late Dave Holland two weeks ago following his sad sudden passing in February before seeing the Seadogs finally end their exile and kick off at a new stadium in Scarborough next season.
