Scarborough Athletic midfielder Chris Bolder has thanked well-wishers for their messages of support after the serious injury he suffered on Saturday in EVO-STIK Northern Premier League action against Bamber Bridge.

The First Division North clash was stopped after half an hour when the 28-year-old went down with dislocated knee and abandoned an hour later when the player was finally ferried to hospital by ambulance.

Bolder was released from Scarborough Hospital on Saturday night and visited the following morning by joint managers Paul Foot and Bryan Hughes, pictured with the player.

Club officials are now hoping the former Grimsby Town and North Ferriby man can make a swift recovery from what looks to be knee ligament damage.

In the statement release by the Seadogs to update fans on his condition, the club said: "Early indications are that Chris has suffered a dislocated knee, but obviously it is too early to know the specific damage. Chris would like to pass on his thanks to all the supporters who have contacted him from both Boro and other clubs since his injury. Everyone at Scarborough Athletic wishes Chris a speedy recovery."

Bolder played in the Football League for Grimsby Town between 2001 and 2004 after coming through the youth ranks at Hull City. He has also appeared for Ossett Town and Guiseley as well as his seven seasons in two spells with North Ferriby United.
