Bouncing Bucks clinch stadium deal

By David Watters

When Buxton kick off against Newcastle Town in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Integro League Cup on Tuesday night it will be at the newly named Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.

The Bucks, taking a night off from the title chase to host their EVO-STIK NPL First Division South opponents in the competition's third round, say their "delighted" directors have signed a three year stadium sponsorship deal with locally-based construction company Tarmac Cement.

The signage bearing the name of the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's new sponsors was installed over the weekend by the third-placed promotion-chasers, pictured, before chairman David Hopkins unveiled the new partnership and boost for manager Martin McIntosh and his side in a statement to fans on Monday.

Hopkins said: “We are delighted to be partnering with such a large and respected local business and employer. We are immensely proud to have the very strong Blue Circle brand associated with our ground and look forward to working with them moving forward."

Tarmac Cement's packed business manager Kevan Greenhalgh said: “We see this as a real opportunity for us to engage with the local community. Buxton Football Club is in the heart of the town and has a strong loyal following. As a large local company we feel that it is important to support the communities where we operate.

"When David approached us with this idea we soon saw the benefits this could bring Tarmac Cement. Buxton Football Club are currently enjoying a strong run in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and we wish them every success for the remainder of the season."

The Bucks are planning a preliminary pitch inspection at 1pm ahead of Tuesday's tie and hoping to update fans soon afterwards via their social media channels on whether it is going ahead.
