Marine manager Phil Brazier is backing striker Andy Fowler to lead them to glory after returning to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Mariners for the third time.

The striker 26, became Brazier's first contract signing of the summer over the weekend when he returned from First Division North Warrington Town.

Fowler, pictured, first joined the Premier Division club in 2011 from Northwich Victoria, making 17 appearances and scoring four times before moving on to AFC Fylde. He returned to Marine last summer, scoring another nine goals in 27 appearances before leaving in January for the Wire.

Brazier, who took over in May following the departure of Kevin Lynch, said he beat off stiff competition on Friday night for Fowler who signed after a meeting with Marine Chairman Paul Leary at the Arriva Stadium.

Brazier said: "Everyone at the club is looking forward to seeing Andy in the black and white of Marine once again. The quality Andy possesses is second to none and this is the reason we have recruited such a talent.

"There has been stiff competition for Andy's signature so we are delighted he has put pen to paper and signed for Marine. We believe Andy will prove to be a huge success and help bring the glory days back.

Brazier added: We are constantly looking to improve and this signing is a major step towards our goals for the forthcoming season."

Marine's Chairman Leary is delighted to see Fowler return and revealed that the club is going the extra mile to ensure his third spell will be his best and most enjoyable.

He said: "As a fan I am really pleased that Phil has been able to persuade Andy to re-join Marine. He is an exciting player with pace and an eye for those very special goals. His goal last season in the FA Cup qualifying game at Trafford gave us a day to remember.

"I look forward this time to Andy having a prolonged stay at Marine and that is why we have decided, with him, to put him on contract. Both Phil and I want him to stay and enjoy his football at Marine and help us to success in the new season ahead."
