Brothers step down at Vikings

Richard and Andy Norman have stood down as the co-chairmen of EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Goole AFC.

The sons of former chairman Mike Norman, who brought the Vikings back to life as Goole AFC 20 years ago, the brothers resigned on Saturday night a few hours after the club's 1-1 draw with Lancaster City at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds in EVO-STIK NPL First Division North.

The duo stood down six months after joining forces with the former chairman Steve Shorthouse and vice-chairman Craig Whincup in the summer of 2016 to head up a new consortium running the Yorkshire club. In a short statement confirming their departure, officials said Shorthouse would return to the helm until a successor is found.
