EVO-STIK League Buxton held League Two champions Chesterfield to a 1-1 draw at Silverlands on Saturday as new signing Greg Young made his debut for Martin McIntosh’s side.
The 31-year-old centre-half, pictured, came through the Sheffield Wednesday junior ranks before making his name at Grimsby Town and Halifax Town. He went on to make more than 100 appearances for Altrincham who the Bucks host on Tuesday night before brief spells at York City and Alfreton Town. Ahead of his switch to the Bucks, the defender made more than 60 appearances for Gainsborough Trinity.
Apart from successfully pairing up Young up in defence with Ash Palmer, McIntosh also used the friendly to announce that midfielders Neil Stevens and Derek Niven, along with his assistant manager Tim Ryan, had all committed to the coming campaign.
Officials at the Derbyshire club say further additions to the squad, including one new face, are expected to be confirmed on Tuesday.
Shaun Tuton put the Bucks ahead at Silverlands in the 28th minute before Jay O'Shae grabbed an equaliser for the Spireites with ten minutes to go.
